The USC Risk Management and Insurance Department assists with property claims, settlements, reimbursements, vehicle damage claims, as well as personal injury claims to non-employees.
CLAIMS, SETTLEMENTS AND REIMBURSEMENTS
When your department has suffered a financial loss, Risk Management will assist with your recovery. Any damage amounts above the deductibles below are payable under our program. Damage amounts below the deductibles are the responsibility of the school or department.
The types of losses we settle on your behalf are:
- Auto Physical Damage or Liability - Commencing with each fiscal year, the employee's department is responsible for the initial $1,500 in repair costs for the first accident and $5,000 in vehicle repair costs for each subsequent accident**
- General Liability- $1,000 deductible**
- Theft of any university-owned property- $5,000 deductible**
- Damage to any university-owned property - $5,000 deductible**
**All losses must be reported to Risk Management within 24-48 hours in order for claim to be accepted.

USC DOES NOT COVER PERSONAL PROPERTY
The university does not insure personal property. Faculty, staff, and students are responsible for insuring and securing their personal property from theft, vandalism or any other types of loss.
PERSONAL INJURY TO NON-EMPLOYEES
Personal injury to any non-employee of USC that occurs on USC property should first be reported to the Department of Public Safety by calling (213)-740-6000, and then to the Department of Risk Management by calling (213)-740-6203.
